About Us

California Inclusive Sailing

A charity Denise and I started in 2014 for our friend John Pascal. JP got Parkinson’s Disease in a poisoning accident at the age of 31. As an athlete, JP wanted to keep sailing, biking and skiing. We discovered the RS Venture, a 16′ sailboat that has side by side adaptive seats and a capacity for four. When JP feels the Parkinson symptoms, he can sit comfortably in the seat and sail the ocean blue. As a PIMCO employee, JP introduced us to the PIMCO Foundation who volunteers for CIS every year and thanks to their generosity, we now have four Ventures from San Diego to San Francisco. Our goal at CIS is to give Ventures to clubs who want to start an inclusive sailing program. CIS also promotes inclusive outdoor recreation with veterans from the Long Beach VA Hospital and Special Olympic Athletes. thanks also to our ambassadors, CIS has a list of ten clubs in California that have a team ready to start an inclusive sailing program. CIS believes that if you have the 3 T’s: a team, the tools, and time you can include more people to the great outdoors.
